Here is the video that I created for digital storytelling, edited in iMovie and shot by my wonderful wife (you may hear our kids in the background a couple times). I did this in class, so some of the timing is a little off because I was trying to keep the sound low so as not to disturb anyone, but overall I was glad to play around with iMovie and figure out how some things worked. I'm not sure why the "album cover intro" comes up twice, I must have clicked something twice or something. I think this would be really fun for kids, and easy to use too. We had a great time making videos in high school, and I'm hoping to work it into my classes somehow.

I like the transitions between scenes. The story book intro is a neat feature. Did you use image stabilization either on the camera or in imovie 9? I ask because your images were silky smooth. Nice work.
ReplyDeletePretty awesome that so much of your life took place on that one street - made me miss my hometown of Madison, WI. After my folks moved I have little reason to go back, and it was such a major player in my childhood. It's interesting how watching your video made me think about my own experiences. I'm always amazed at how much students get in to telling their own stories and discussing the places that seem important to them and their worlds. Making connections like that, while not necessarily a core curricular goal, certainly seems to increase students motivation to participate and enter in to the various activities in the classroom.
